Cincinnati Chosen to Host Leading Scrapbooking Conference
CINCINNATI, OH January 28 2004--
Memory Makers Magazine, the leading magazine for scrapbook ideas, has announced Camp Memory Makers, a 2-1/2 day scrapbooking-camp will be held March 26-28 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. The event brings together hundreds of passionate crafters eager to learn new scrapbooking techniques through an extensive lineup of classes taught by nationally known instructors. For more information, or to register visit http://www.campmm.com.
Scrapbooking, the art of combining photographs and journaling in a creative design, has become one of the most popular segments of the craft industry grossing more than $2.5 billion in 2002.
Akin to quilting bees, scrapbookers meet regularly to socialize and share new techniques at events called "Crops." Response to Camp Memory Makers has been tremendous. To meet demand, the program now encompasses three dates: Cincinnati, Valley Forge, PA (July 23-25) and Dearborn, MI (August 20-22).
"Choosing to host Camp in Cincinnati was a natural decision for us," said Michele Gerbrandt, Memory Makers' Founding Editor. "The local scrapbooking community is thriving with independent retailers, and our parent company is headquartered here."
Gerbrandt is seen as one of the leading forces of the scrapbooking industry. She is a frequent guest on the Home Shopping Network, co-host of the public television series Scrapbook Memories, and former co-host for the DIY Network.
Classes at the event will vary from basic scrapbook design to more advanced techniques such as using 3D techniques, and will be taught by industry stars like Anna Griffin, Debra Beagle and Trudy Sigurdson.
The event will also feature a "Pajama Cropping Party," make & take demonstrations from leading manufacturers of scrapbooking materials, as well as an on-site Camp Store.
Registration for the Cincinnati event is available at the Camp Memory Makers website http://www.campmm.com. Individual day passes can be purchased onsite, but due to the popularity of the event, pre-registration is encouraged.
